Priorities of EUMETSAT CEOS Chairmanship Governance: implementation of agreed post-CSS arrangements Oversee adherence to agreed criteria for reviewing activities (a) Alignment with CEOS strategic goals (b) Benefit to internal and/or external stakeholders (c) Feasibility and Affordability Make sure that these criteria are systematically applied when deciding on new proposed activities (with SEC, SIT Chair) Support design/production of first 3-year CEOS Work Plan (with CEO, SIT Chair) Opportunity for identification of deliverables of WGs, VCs, ad hoc teams For VCs, capitalize on work started under outgoing SIT Chair (NASA)
Priorities of EUMETSAT CEOS Chairmanship Interactions with stakeholders Represent/promote CEOS at GEO Ministerial/Plenary (with outgoing Chair ) Support CEO in the CEOS-GEO Coordination Meeting Disaster management: prepare CEOS contribution to Hyogo framework on DRR (HFA-2) in Sendai (with next Chair, CEO and Disaster WG Chair) Climate community: Host the 2014 Climate Symposium with WCRP Promote J-CWG and Climate Architecture (with J-WG Chair and SEO) Represent/promote CEOS at GFCS Intergovernmental Board (Summer ‘14)
Priorities of EUMETSAT CEOS Chairmanship Support the development of an initial work plan for the new J-CWG (with WG Chair/co-Chair and CEO) See how to address the three objectives assigned to the J-CWG, whilst setting realistic short term priorities and deliverables, e.g. consolidation of physical inventory Stimulate/facilitate participation of CEOS and CGMS members CMA, JMA, KMA and Roshydromet have nominated representatives Define articulation with VC and CGMS ISWG and WGs, as appropriate Use inventory /show case (with CEO and SEO) to support outreach at 2014 Climate Symposium and beyond Support preparation of consolidated work plan after symposium (with CEO, WG Chair, incoming CEOS Chair)
