“Water” Case Study Introduction

How much water, where? IF: 100ml of water represents all the water on the earth everywhere… Then 96.5ml of water would represent all the salt water in the oceans, seas and bays Then 1.74ml of water would represent all the ice on earth (in the polar ice caps, glaciers, and in permanent snow) And 1.76 ml of water represents all the drinkable water in the ground, air, rivers, lakes and swamps!

What happens if we pollute all our water? 0ver 10% of the world’s fresh water belongs to Canada. It’s estimated that 40% of all water in North America is unfit for human use. (1999) The UN reported that every 8 seconds, a child dies from a water-related disease UN reported 5.3 million deaths caused each year by unsafe water

The Water Case study We are looking at Option A 2001 data from the UN website Answer all questions in sentence form unless directed to draw a table. Show your work (process) for all calculations. Answer all parts of all questions. Option B Commodification of Water (interesting!)
