BALANCE DIET : A balance diet includes all food constituents. Of these the body needs minerals and vitamins in very small quantities. However if the body is deprived of even those small quantities, we get various diseases.

Often there is ignorance or misconceptions about food and their nutrient values.

Deficiency of Vitamin C ROLE : - Growth of the body. - Producing protein in skin, bone and blood vessels. - Good for immune system etc.

/ Deficiency of Vitamin C Disease : Scurvy : Mainly children disease. It causes weakness in baby’s limbs. Sources : Lemons, amla,oranges,sweetlime and green leafy vegetables.

Deficiency of Vitamin D ROLE : - Absorb calcium and phosphates from the food we eat. “DOODH KA CALCIUM WASTE NAHI HOTA”.

Deficiency of Vitamin D Disease : Rickets : Mainly children disease. The bones remain soft and get bend. Sources: Cheapest source Sun. Animal products like cod liver oil, shark liver oil, eggs,butter,cow’s milk etc.

Deficiency of Calcium ROLE : - Strengthens Bones and Teeth - Prevents Muscle Cramps - Keeps the Skin Healthy etc.

Deficiency of Calcium Disease : - Muscle Cramping - Brittle nails,bones etc. Sources: Milk and milk products, wheat,leafy vegetables,cabbage,oranges,a lmonds etc.

Effect of intoxicating substances  Harmful substances like nicotine, tar and carbon monoxide are formed when person eats or smokes tobacco.  The nicotine in tobacco has damaging effects on brain and the heart.  The gases of tobacco smoke damages the lungs.  Chewing tobacco,guthaka can cause cancer of the mouth.  Drinking alcohol affects the nervous system.
