What is Burning Man?

Burning Man is… An event: happens once per year in Black Rock Desert of America. A community: people stay a week, they build artwork, play games, organize performance. An Art activity: although not all people make art, art pieces are still the core element. An anti-commodification movement: artworks will not be sold but finally burned.

The Ten Principles Radical Inclusion Immediacy Participation Leaving No Trace Civic Responsibility Communal Effort Radical Self-expression Radical Self-reliance De-commodification Gifting

What will people do? Artistes: make art; Volunteers: help artiste to make art; Everyone: join activities such as dance group, game playing, photo studio, bar corner etc. Anyone: both as a performer and audience.

Burn an Asian Fire: the challenges Quality of the Asian: Asian people tend to be less self-initiative. Quality of venue: Not all Asian countries possess appropriate desert.

Solution to people’s quality Tasks to finish: participants are requested to participate in at least two activities each day. Concrete rules to follow : participants should write and post what they work, play, perform; who they meet, how they think and meditate.
