CHAPTER 3: PODCASTS AND VODCASTS Web 2.0 How-To For Educators

What are Podcasts & Vodcasts? Podcasts is a series of audio or video files delivered in episodes. (mp3 or mp4 format) Vodcasts are the video version of the podcast Podcasts and Vodcasts can be delivered by streaming or by download.  Downloading allow access when a wireless connection is not possible Podcasts differ from other mp3 files by virtue of their ability to be syndicated. Syndication is RSS (Real Simple Syndication) .

Podcasting for the Classroom Tours of museums, battleground and other interesting locations. Science shows for students & adults Course lectures for teachers and students Radio broadcasts

Creating a Podcast Have students write a script. Use a microphone to record the script. (adding video or slide show is optional) Have students take turns being audio engineers Leave 30 secondss space at the beginning and end of the podcast. Play podcast for students, burn to cd or place online.
