Welcome to Mrs. Nadeau’s Class! Classroom Expectations & Procedures English Language Arts and Social Studies Building 16 Room 270

Wait to enter classroom until you are invited Line up at the door quietly against the wall (flush with the bulletin board). –I will be sure to greet you each morning and afternoon. –enter with a smile and a positive attitude. Never enter a teacher’s room without permission, even if they are NOT there and/or the door is OPEN! This includes adjoining classrooms! Parents are also included!

Place backpack in “backpack parking” OR back of chair. –Backpacks or lunchboxes are not permitted on the floor around your desk. –Store personal items in the chair sleeve or in a single stack under your desk –Lunch boxes are attached to your backpack or stored in the cabinet. –Outerwear belongs on coat hooks or back of chair.

Update your Agenda Book as you enter class. The homework screen on my website is always projected as you arrive. Copy into your agenda immediately and exactly as indicated (Agenda Books ARE graded)

Always push in your chair respecting your space and the space of others. Keep your space neat at all times including where your backpack is “parked Homeroom: Desks are always TWO neat stacks, no LOOSE papers. (Every loose paper has a “home” (folder, backpack, notebook, or trash can.)

Please leave your seat as needed You do not need to ask permission: –use the restroom –take a drink of water –retrieve classroom supplies –sharpen a pencil (use a handheld however if I am instructing…)

Hallway and Stairs Rolling backpacks are pulled, not carried or pushed Walk at all times-stay to your right! Use NORTH stairway at ALL times (up and down), except at the end of the day (you may use either) Vest & Nadeau homeroom only –No sliding, climbing, jumping, or throwing items –Referrals will be issued along with Three R Calendar consequences…

Keep conversation to a minimum “When you feel the need to talk, try the ability to think.” Speaking for speaking’s sake is unnecessary and interferes with the classroom climate. Background music is played daily and should be heard during independent and collaborative working situations. Grab some sticky notes if you are struggling with silence and try this exercise: What colors do you see at sunset? Candlelight What colors do you see at sunrise? Frosty dew Make a list of colors in nature. What colors are not found in the crayon box?

The ONE expectation to remember… Let me know if you plan on NOT following the expectations in advance. Think about that one for a moment! Choosing NOT to follow the rules will result in a ONE time warning and SECOND warning of removal from classroom with a discipline assignment. –Why would you NOT want to be here with ME?

Mrs. Nadeau will never ask you to do something that she is not modeling herself. Please help me help keep YOUR classroom safe! Respecting your materials Organizing your space Keeping conversation minimal “Parking” your backback and lunchbox Pushing in your chair Advance notice of misbehavior Being responsible for agenda

Classroom Fieldtrip Backpack and Lunchbox “Parking” Self-Checking Station Assignment shelves/mailbox center Construction Paper, Privacy Screens, Scissors, Glue, etc (all labeled drawers/cabinets are for student use) –Not labeled? Teacher use only Bandaids & Tissues Student manuals, Class Agenda Book & Absentee Document Pick Up Pencil Sharpener, Art Supplies, Staplers, etc (ART CART) Restroom & Laptop Cart Room library Printer WHY? Tree Questions?
