Transportation We keep track of students’ transportation method in the classroom. Please let the office know of any permanent transportation changes. Please write a note or call the office if your student’s transportation method is changing for the day!

Attendance School begins promptly at 8:00 AM. Please do your best to ensure that your child arrives on time! In the event of an absence your child may need to make up class work. Please note that this work may be sent home to be completed!

Healthy Snacks School Lane follows a healthy snack policy! Please send two healthy snacks each day along with a water bottle. Ideas for acceptable snacks: Yogurt Cheese sticks Fruits and vegetables Popcorn or pretzels

Field Trips First grade will take two field trips this year. Chaperones We are only able to take 2-3 chaperones on each trip. To be a parent chaperone you must have clearances. Please contact me or the office with any questions!

School Books Library We will visit the library each Friday at 12:30. Each student may check out a book to leave at school or take home with them. Each book must be returned in order to check another book out. Textbooks/Workbook First grade students will be using multiple workbooks for reading and math. These books will be used both in class and at home. Students will also receive textbooks that will be returned at the end of the year. These books will not go home.

Star Student Each week one student will be chosen to be the “Star Student”. Each student will be chosen once in first grade. The Star Student should bring in a small “All About Me Poster” on the Monday of their Star Student Week. They may also bring in 2-3 small items to show and tell! The Star Student will also have chance to take home our Class Buddy and write a story about their time with him. If you are interested in being a guest reader during your student’s Star Student Week, there will be a form in his/her folder next week!

Grading System and Parent/Teacher Conferences The students will be graded as follows: E-Emerging DV-Developing P-Proficient DS-Distinguished Parents are required to attend two parent teacher conferences each year. Birthdays/Celebrations Birthdays are recognized each morning over the morning announcements, and will also be recognized in class. Please let us know if your child should not celebrate his/her birthday at school, or if he/she may not participate in celebrating the birthdays of classmates. If you plan on sending in a birthday treat, please ensure that it complies with our healthy snack policy! Non- edible treats are also allowed. Please ensure that there are enough for each student (25) if you choose to send something in.
