History of Dictionary and Reports  The dictionary was meant to be as small as possible  Designed to use the database catalog as much as possible  We did not want an overly complicated dictionary  We started out just building ETL  Along the way we found so much more we could do and so easily. So the dictionary grew.  A client asked us to massively extend the dictionary in 2010 and so we did.  The reports are there to expose the dictionary  There is a suite of stored procedures as well  Other reports/procedures could easily be written
