 Read poem on pg. 437, and answer the following: 1. What events are happening in the first stanza? 2. What is happening in the second stanza? 3. Explain the word connotations in line 1 and in line What comparison do the word connotations in the above questions make overall? What other figure of speech is used to help make that comparison between these two lines? 5. Explain the diction in line 7. Mention both the denotation and the connotation of the word branding. 6. Explain the diction in line 22. Mention the connotation of the impaled. 7. What might the dewdrops symbolize? Why?
