OPEN HOUSE WELCOME TO 7 TH GRADE ENGLIGH/LANGUAGE ARTS MS. PERLEY

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF YOUR STUDENT… 1. BELLWORK 2. REVIEW LEARNING GOALS AND DAILY OBJECTIVES 3. TYPICALLY SPRINGBOARD BOOK ACTIVITY 4. EXIT SLIP- WRITE DOWN HW

MEDIA CENTER EVERY OTHER FRIDAY AFTER BOOK FAIR IS OPEN FROM 7:30-3:00PM LATE FINES START AT 25 CENTS

PASSES PASSES ARE GIVEN 9 PASSES PER NINE WEEKS; PASSES NOT USED WILL ADD POINTS TO THEIR GRADE NO PLANNER? NO PASS; DON’T ASK! PASSES ARE NOT GIVEN TO THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS: OTHER TEACHERS FRONT OFFICE ADMINISTRATION GUIDANCE LOCKER ROOM

CLASSROOM RULES BE PREPARED. BE DRESSED APPROPRIATELY. ARRIVE TO CLASS ON TIME. IMMEDIATELY BEGIN WORKING ON YOUR BELLWORK WHEN YOU ENTER THE ROOM. BRING ALL NECESSARY SUPPLIES TO CLASS EACH DAY. IF YOU ARE LATE, YOU MUST BRING A PASS FROM THE OFFICE OR A SIGNED PLANNER; NO EXCEPTIONS! BE RESPECTFUL. DO NOT MAKE FUN OF OTHERS. RESPECT EVERYONE AND THEIR OPINIONS (EVEN IF YOU DON’T AGREE). DO NOT CURSE OR USE FOUL LANGUAGE. RAISE YOUR HAND AND WAIT TO BE CALLED ON IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY OR A QUESTION TO ASK. CLEAN UP THE ROOM AND PUT CHAIRS AND BOOKS BACK WHERE THEY BELONG BEFORE YOU LEAVE EACH DAY.

CLASSROOM RULES CONTINUED BE RESPONSIBLE. TURN IN ASSIGNMENTS ON TIME. DO NOT FORGET PAPERS, ASSIGNMENTS, OR PROJECTS AT HOME. ANYTHING TURNED IN LATE WILL BE COUNTED AS LATE. STUDY FOR TESTS AND QUIZZES. USE AND MANAGE YOUR TIME WISELY. DO NOT CHEAT OR COPY WORK FROM OTHERS. PARTICIPATE AND COOPERATE. TAKE PART IN DISCUSSIONS AND CLASS ACTIVITIES. DO YOUR PART IN GROUP WORK RATHER THAN RELYING ON OTHERS TO DO YOUR WORK. STAY IN YOUR ASSIGNED SEAT UNLESS YOU HAVE PERMISSION TO MOVE AROUND. DO NOT WORK ON ASSIGNMENTS FOR OTHER CLASSES IN MY CLASS OR PASS NOTES TO OTHER STUDENTS – THESE WILL BE CONFISCATED AND WILL NOT BE RETURNED. CELL PHONES MUST BE TURNED OFF AND IN YOUR BUCKET – IF I SEE OUT OF YOUR BACKPACK OR HEAR IT, I WILL TAKE IT AND TURN IT IN TO THE OFFICE.

EXPECTATIONS HOMEWORK WILL BE ASSIGNED TO STUDENTS AS NEEDED AND WILL BE GIVEN IN CLASS (TYPICALLY ON THE BOARD OR ON SLIPS OF PAPER GIVEN TO STUDENTS). ALL HOMEWORK SHOULD BE POSTED ON THE WEBSITE; HOWEVER, FAILURE TO POST HOMEWORK ON THE WEBSITE DOES NOT EXCUSE STUDENTS FROM THE ASSIGNMENT. STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE SEVERAL ASSIGNMENTS AND PROJECTS ON THE COMPUTER THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. STUDENTS WILL NEED A WORKING SCHOOL APPROPRIATE GMAIL ADDRESS (OR A THUMBNAIL DRIVE 8GB) AND REGULAR ACCESS TO THE INTERNET. ALL WORK MUST BE COMPLETE, LEGIBLE, AND ORGANIZED. PAPERS WITH NO NAME ON THEM WILL RECEIVE A 50% REDUCTION IN POINTS. NO NAME PAPERS WILL BE POSTED IN THE CLASSROOM. IF THEY ARE NOT CLAIMED WITHIN THE WEEK, THEY WILL BE THROWN AWAY. STUDENTS SHOULD REGULARLY CHECK THIS BOARD BEFORE CLASS BEGINS OR AFTER CLASS ENDS TO SEE IF ANY OF THE WORK BELONGS TO THEM.

CCA LATE POLICY LATE POLICY ALL WORK MUST BE TURNED IN ON TIME TO RECEIVE FULL CREDIT. WORK THAT IS TURNED IN LATE WILL RECEIVE A 50% REDUCTION IN POINTS. STUDENTS WILL HAVE THREE DAYS FROM THE TIME A GRADE IS POSTED ON PROGRESS BOOK TO TURN IN THE ASSIGNMENT FOR HALF CREDIT. AFTER THAT, I WILL NOT ACCEPT THE ASSIGNMENT. THE LAST DATE AN ASSIGNMENT WILL BE ACCEPTED WILL BE POSTED IN THE COMMENT SECTION OF THE ASSIGNMENT ON PROGRESS BOOK. ABSENCES ATTENDANCE IS CRUCIAL TO SUCCESS. WHEN YOU ARE ABSENT, EXCUSED OR NOT, YOU ARE MISSING VALUABLE INSTRUCTION AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO COLLABORATE WITH OTHERS. YOU ARE ALSO BEHIND AND MUST COMPLETE THE MISSED WORK AS WELL AS CURRENT ASSIGNMENTS. IF YOU KNOW YOU WILL BE ABSENT, PLEASE REQUEST YOUR WORK AHEAD OF TIME ( IS THE BEST WAY TO DO THIS). A STUDENT WHO HAS BEEN ABSENT MUST MAKE-UP ALL WORK THAT WAS MISSED WHILE HE OR SHE WAS ABSENT. STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE NUMBER OF DAYS THEY MISSED PLUS ONE EXTRA DAY TO MAKE UP THE WORK. IT IS THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO OBTAIN MISSED NOTES AND ASSIGNMENTS AND TO SCHEDULE MAKE-UP TESTS/QUIZZES WITH ME ONCE HE OR SHE RETURNS TO SCHOOL. FAILURE TO DO SO IN A TIMELY MANNER WILL RESULT IN LATE CREDIT OR NO CREDIT BEING GIVEN. STUDENTS WHO MISS 10 DAYS OF ANY CLASS IN A SEMESTER (EXCUSED OR UNEXCUSED) MUST TAKE AND PASS A CUMULATIVE EXAM TO RECEIVE A PASSING GRADE FOR THE SEMESTER.
