Big Maths Counting Every day counting is practised in different ways. Every day counting is practised in different ways. We count forwards and backwards in a variety of steps. Keeping one number whole and partitioning the other is an efficient strategy and works for all numbers = Number lines - Addition

Put the biggest number on the right hand side of the number line. Partition the second number. First subtract the tens and then the units = Subtraction

Draw 3 jumps of 4. 3 x 4 = Multiplication

Count in groups of 4 until you reach 24. Count how many jumps to find the answer. 24 ÷ 4 = Division
