Social Studies 8 Curriculum  US/NYS history from Civil War to present.  Despite the State’s decision to drop the NYS Assessment, students will continue to focus on the skills that have traditionally been deemed important.  This will include analyzing historical documents and writing document based essays (DBQ’s).  Reading and Writing

Science 8  Topics covered: Physical Science (Chemistry, Electricity, Magnetism), Astronomy (Stars, Solar Systems, Galaxies), and Earth Science (Weather, Plate Tectonics, Rocks & Minerals) NYS Regents Living Environment  Topics covered: Living Organisms, Homeostasis in Organisms, Genetic Continuity, Reproduction & Development, Evolution, Ecology, Human Impact on Ecosystems, Scientific Inquiry & Skills, Laboratory Skills  Students must successfully complete all lab assignments to sit for the NYS Living Environment Regents Exam in June
