BELLWORK What is the Neolithic Revolution? What are some characteristics of a Neolithic civilization? What is culture? What is the Ice Age? Stone Age? THINKER: Where were the early civilizations founded? Why would people settle here?

African Civilizations You are now going to learn about the first civilizations in history – African civilizations. As early as 5000 B.C., people settled around the Nile River. As time progressed, Africans created their own governments, empires, culture, and history.

African Civilizations – Jigsaw Reading You are now going to read more specifically about the oldest African civilization – Egypt. In groups of three, number off 1-3. Every person in the group will read a different section of the handout. When everyone is done, you will come together and share information from your section of reading Everyone in the group will create a “mind map” of notes centered around Egyptian civilization.
