The English Settle In Students will understand who and how the 13 colonies were settled.

Geography New England Colonies In the North Eastern United States Made up of hills, thick forests, and very thin rocky soil.

Geography Middle Colonies More rivers than the New England States Better soil Milder winters

Geography Southern Colonies Tidewater area: The water in rivers and streams rises and falls every day with the oceans tide. Warm weather almost all year around

The Western Boarder Appellation Mountains “Backcountry” In the back of the area where colonists settled. Fall line About 100 miles inland Where the land was higher and the rivers came down as water falls.

Your Turn You are going to become an expert on one of the colonies. You will work in groups, small ones, in class to make a presentation about one of the colonies. Requirements will be on the next slide and posted on the blog.

What you are going to do minute presentation. Power point, video, prezi, acting whatever takes 10 minutes, you can even have the class do something. 1 of the colonies Who found it? Important people What charter did they have. What and why they settled it. Religion, money or whatever. Where is it? Which of the three regions, north, or south? How did they make it into a permanent colony? When? Dates of importance. Don’t go past 1750.
