M ANY CHANNELS ON TV TO CHOOSE FROM Entertainment Education Information Some we want to watch Others we can’t stand According to the A.C. Nielsen Co., the average American watches more than 4 hours of TV each day (or 28 hours/week, or 2 months of nonstop TV- watching per year). In a 65-year life, that person will have spent 9 years glued to the tube. ABC's Desperate Housewives is the most popular broadcast- network television show with kids aged 9-12 according to Nielsen stats.

A LL THE WORLD IS LIKE A TELEVISION … Every person is a channel Some good…some bad At school At work At church At home Your kids watch these “channels” Learn from them Mimic their actions and words Idolize them Grow up to be like them

W HAT DO PEOPLE SEE ON THE “ YOU ” TUBE ? A bad influence on kids? Matthew 18:6-7 A poor agent of Christ? I Timothy 4:12 In deeds and words? Titus 2:7-8 One who is ashamed to follow Jesus? Matthew 10:33 Like Peter during Jesus’ trial

I F PEOPLE SEE SOMETHING BAD ON YOUR “ FACEBOOK ”, MAYBE IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO … Change the channel!

H OW TO C HANGE Y OUR CHANNEL Know yourself well enough to know when you are on the “wrong channel” in your behavior. 2 Corinthians 13:5 – test yourself! Know God’s expectations so that you can identify the “wrong channel.” 2 Timothy 3:14-15 – sacred writings of wisdom If you are struggling with sin, stop watching the “temptation stations.” Don’t be afraid to ask other people to “change the channel” when they set a poor example And don’t be surprised when other people who hear this lesson tell you later that you need to “change the channel” too!

W HAT KIND OF CHANNEL SHOULD YOU BE ? A channel of God’s blessings Hebrews 13:16 Hymn “There is a sea” A channel of God’s love 1 John 4:19-21 A channel of God’s instructions 2 Timothy 2:15 – handle God’s Word accurately!

A ND IF YOU FIND YOURSELF WATCHING THE WRONG CHANNEL … Psalm 101:3 Not an ungodly adult Not a worthless role model Not an evil tv show, movie, web site, or other media Not an immoral place or situation Not any temptation to sin I WILL SET NOTHING WICKED BEFORE MY EYES!

W HAT TO DO NEXT ? If I see something evil I will CHANGE THE CHANNEL Stop watching Flee temptation Philippians 4:8 If I am the wicked one I will CHANGE THE CHANNEL of my behavior Acts 3:19 I will change the channel to something good

B ECAUSE THERE IS SOMEONE ELSE WATCHING “M Y S PACE ” AS WELL … This person is my biggest fan who wants to see me do well… This person never misses a single episode of my life… GOD

W HAT CHANNEL ARE YOU ON TODAY ? If you are not tuned in to God, you are missing the best show. Isn’t it time for you to change the channel? If sin is flowing in your life, isn’t it time for you to change the channel?
