Science Journal Expectations 1. Journals must be permanently bound. Do not use notebook paper for journal entries and class notes. 2. Students’ names and journal numbers should be printed on the cover of the journal. 3. Journal entries should be in pencil, or blue or black ink. Graphs and drawings can be colored. 4. Number each page of the journal. Page numbers should be located in the top outside corner of each page.

Science Journal Expectations 5. Reserve the first two pages in the journal for a table of contents 6. Label each lesson, topic, experiment, or activity. Each new activity must have a date and title. 7. Never tear a page from your journal. If you make a mistake, you can cross it out, but do not remove pages or parts of a page. 8. Do not skip or leave blank pages in your science journal.

Observation is an important part of the scientific process. It is also important, however, that we are able to describe and attempt to explain what we observe.

Observation #1: Blue Bottle Demonstration What were you able to observe during this demonstration? What do you think caused the results that you observed?

Observation #2: Burning Dollar Demonstration What were you able to observe during this demonstration? What do you think caused the results that you observed?
