Earth’s Moon by Lisa Marie Perkins Thanks extended to Quince and Teacher Alana for their patient teaching me on the use of PowerPoint.

Earth’s moon is the 5th largest moon in the Solar System. It is the largest natural moon relative to the size of its planet, Earth. F F The moon’s rotation is ‘insynch” with Earth’s rotation …meaning the same ‘face’ of the moon is always ‘facing’ Earth! Really! The moon takes 27 days, 7 hours, 43 minutes, 11.6 seconds to go around Earth.

The man in the moon isn’t a man after all…. FThe moon reflects the light of the sun. If the Sun wasn’t there, we wouldn’t be able to see the Moon. FPeople on Earth always see the same side of the moon. We can never see the ‘back’ of the moon. FThe moon reflects the light of the sun. If the Sun wasn’t there, we wouldn’t be able to see the Moon. FPeople on Earth always see the same side of the moon. We can never see the ‘back’ of the moon.

The first person IN THE WORLD steps on the surface of the moon. FNeil Armstrong was the first human to step on the surface of the moon. F“A small step for man; a giant leap for mankind” were his words that day. FNeil Armstrong was the first human to step on the surface of the moon. F“A small step for man; a giant leap for mankind” were his words that day.

The Surface of the Moon The moon’s surface has many craters created billions of years ago, so scientists think, from meteors hitting the moon. The moon’s surface is full of mountains, lava plains, and valleys. The moon has no atmosphere, but water was discovered on the moon in November, 2009.

FA blue moon is the second full moon occurring in the same calendar month. We say, “That only happens once in a blue moon.” The expression means it hardly ever happens. The moon……a reflection of the sun’s love! A glowing orb in Earth’s night sky.
