Computer security virus, hacking and backups

Computer viruses are small software programs that are designed to spread from one computer to another and to interrupt with computer operation. A virus might delete data on your computer, use your program to spread itself to other computers, or even delete everything on your hard disk. Viruses are easiest to spread by attachments in messages or instant messaging messages. That is why it is crucial that you never open attachments unless you know who it's from and that you are expecting it. Viruses can be disguised as attachments of funny images, greeting cards, or audio and video files.

What Damage Can A Virus Do? When you get a computer virus your computer may get random pop-ups trying to make you download something or sell something to you. It can also spread itself across your P.C files and make it harder for you to remove it. If you do not have anti-virus software and are an inexperienced online user you should really get an anti- virus or just be more careful of what sites you go on.

How can u prevent your computer from getting a virus? 1.Secure your Internet connection using a firewall. A firewall is software or a hardware device developed to prevent not allowed access to your computer by viruses and from hackers. Without an active firewall, your computer will be able to get infected by a bad program, often within minutes of connecting to the Internet. 2. Keep any infected computers or drives alone and disconnect them from the Internet until you have run a security program. Workstations on networks that are infected with viruses should be isolated and saved before being restored into the network. 3. Update your antivirus programs regularly. If possible, set up the program to automatically alert you when updates are available from the manufacturer. This will help ensure that it can detect and get rid of new known viruses, which are always being developed. Make a practice of running the antivirus program on a regular basis. Stay up-to-date on security updates and vulnerability patches for computer software you have installed on your PC. 4. Scan any attachments or any files downloaded from the Internet before you open them, to ensure that there is no malicious program in the download. Never download attachments that are not from trusted sources, especially if it has the.exe extension. Scan any flash disks, floppies or other storage media before use--particularly if they are from unknown sources. These media are notorious for spreading viruses to other machines that are not infected.

Are there any draw backs to using anti virus software? Installing as well as running antivirus program can make use of up a bunch of PC memory and HDD space, sluggish your computer. Store Tech Systems Inc. states this is still accurate for defending servers and a network system such as LAN, WAN …from viruses. Concerning on how a company's management information system otherwise information technology individual arrangement antivirus scanning and security, the procedure of scanning might reason lag within the network availability for single clients.
