Event 8: Vladimir’s Past As you learn about Vladimir’s family and his time in the Gulag, you must decide which family member will help you get the book in the right hands. Remember some family members consider Vladimir to be a traitor and will report you to the KGB. Look at family pictures, read letters from the Gulag and find out all you can about Vladimir’s past. Only one family member will help you get the book into the right hands. By the end of this event you will have to decide which family member you will visit next.

Valeria shows you family photos. Click on the image to hear about the family’s difficult past. Event 8: Vladimir’s Past Although Valeria knows nothing about the book, you know that there is a sibling who does know about the book and can help you get it into the right hands. Some of Vladimir’s siblings are still scared that they are being watched by the government. If they learn of the book they may turn you in to the local police. You have to decide who is trustworthy.

Brother Ivan Event 8.1: Vladimir’s Past Although Valeria knows nothing about the book, you know that there is a sibling who does know about the book and can help you get it into the right hands. But Vladimir has many siblings. Listen closely to their stories to find out what happened to each of them. Click on the person to hear Valeria’s description as many times as necessary.

Sister Ekaterina Event 8.2: Vladimir’s Past Although Valeria knows nothing about the book, you know that there is a sibling who does know about the book and can help you get it into the right hands. But Vladimir has many siblings. Listen closely to their stories to find out what happened to each of them. Click on the person to hear Valeria’s description as many times as necessary.

Brother Sergei Event 8.3: Vladimir’s Past Although Valeria knows nothing about the book, you know that there is a sibling who does know about the book and can help you get it into the right hands. But Vladimir has many siblings. Listen closely to their stories to find out what happened to each of them. Click on the person to hear Valeria’s description as many times as necessary.

Valeria shows you some of Vladimir’s letters from the Gulag and explains to you Vladimir’s past and why the family had to disown him. She is not aware of the book that Vladimir gave you. Look for dates, names, places. Learn as much as you can about the people shown in the picture and mention in the letters. When you meet brother Ivan mention these places and dates to him, he will help to lead you to your next clue. If you are unfamiliar with these names look them up online or ask Valeria. You have to decide which relative is the one who can help you with the book. Event 8.4: Vladimir’s Past

Valeria has told you about Vladimir’s family. You know that you have to find the sibling that will help you to do what Vladimir would have wanted with the book. Who will you choose? Click on the sibling that you will choose to contact. Event 8.5: Vladimir’s Past Click on the picture of the sibling of whom you wish to contact. This will bring up their contact information. Valeria is not on speaking terms with Ivan, so she will not be able to help you if you choose him. Once you have selected a sibling your visit to them is obligatory. Valeria can help you to make arrangements for your visit. Whether you choose to tell them about the book is up to you. If you tell the wrong sibling, they will report you to the KGB and you will lose the book. OPTIONS HELP
