Key features Code establishes a framework for work with ionising radiation and underpins: STFC Safety Code 14 Management of Radioactive Sealed Sources STFC Safety Code 21 Management of Radioactive Waste STFC Safety Code 28 Management of Radioactive Open Sources (in draft)

Key features Code addresses requirements of legislation for example: Ionising Radiation Regulations 1999 (IRR99) Radioactive Substances Act 1993 (RSA93) Follows non-nuclear sector best practice for restricting exposure to ionising radiations to levels As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP)
