Fort Ticonderoga Ethan Allen & the Green Mountain Boys took over Fort Ticonderoga. The seized cannons for the Colonial or Continental Army. Colonials needed the cannons to be able to fight the British with any chance of being successful.

2 nd Continental Congress Elected George Washington as Commander of Continental Army. Drafted the Olive Branch Petition asking King George to Repeal Intolerable Acts. Colonist still wanted to pursue peaceful means. King Rejected and vowed to bring Colonist rebels to their knees. Patrick Henry “Give me Liberty or Give me Death”

American Patriots ADVANTAGES Owned rifles and were good shots Great leader in Washington Fight to defend their homeland and farmland DISADVANTAGES Poorly trained to fight Disorganized Lack of gunpowder Lack of cannons No navy Outnumbered
