Feedback from Folkestone and New Romney Speaking Up Groups We are working together to meet peoples individual goals and make the community a better place

We have made posters and advertised at lots of different places

This is it!

Folkestone Speaking Up Group We now have two computers, one laptop and a projector We also have internet access. We have been able to buy this equipment from funding we received from Shepway District Council

SKYPE We have downloaded SKYPE so that we can communicate for free with other people in different Speaking Up Groups

Campaigning! We have written a letter to Mark Spratt about providing training for the bus drivers on how to have better communication with people

Campaigning! We have been trying to get a ramp for wheel chair access to the building we meet in, by talking to the landlord and writing letters to the council

Hate Crime We have been talking about hate crime We watched a DVD made by people in Speaking Up Group in Deal

We invited the police Mick Cronin, Community Liaison Officer and Jo, PCSO came because some of us are worried about the problems with school children on the buses

Independence We have made arrangements for the Broker in Shepway, Elvis Cudjoe to come and talk with us; we want to know more about personal budgets

Human Rights We regularly discuss our human rights, and support each other to be individual and independent.

New Romney We meet every Wednesday at am, Phase 11, Youth Centre, the Marsh Academy Site, Station Rd, New Romney

New Romney We organised an open day and gave out invitations to several residential homes and a person in SUG made cakes for everyone

New Romney A local Councillor came to our open day We have discussed the Single Equally Scheme and taken part in the consultation

New Romney Speaking Up and good health We have talked about the importance of good health We have looked at different types of health action plans We want to visit Residential homes to talk about health

SUG and Regional Forum We want to work with Voice 4 Kent and the Regional Forum We have filled in a questionnaire from the Regional forum about how to support Speaking Up Groups to get stronger
