The Fortune Centre Of Riding Therapy Technology in use on the Yard and About

Using computers around horses may seem like an impossibility and to begin with it took some getting used to. The reality is however that we are able to do it with relative ease…

We use cameras to record all the usual things about what the students get up to on a daily basis for their reviews and to record progress.

A student’s view of her learning environment: “In here (the tack room) we have an interactive whiteboard, it’s used as a learning tool, a mobile classroom if you like. It’s disguised as a normal room but is really a classroom.”

Look, we have Wi- Fi on the yard

The Toughbook provides both students and staff with the ability to learn or record wherever they may be… and is a little more “horse (and student) proof” than the regular laptops!

Walkie-talkies have proved to be a very useful communication device as staff are able to be contact with students who have been given a little more freedom about the site.

Being able to use technology on the yard supports our focus of using horses to teach everyday life skills and empowers the students to want to learn and to take charge in an environment that motivates them.
