IDEAS FOR MINI INNOVATION PROJECTS SYROS “LOUCOUMI”. PRODUCT PLANNING AND PROMOTION The famous “loucoumi” is a local delicacy. It has a long tradition. The art of preparing “loucoumi” was introduced by the refugees of Asia Minor and the island of Chios who came to Syros after The Syros “loucoumi” is famous for its unique taste and aroma and is known as the very best. The objection of this mini project is the planning of a modern package, which will protect the delicacy and at the same time it will compete the new delicacies and be more attractive to the public and also inform people for the historical evolution of the productive procedure of this product. TOURISM & ACCESS IN THE ISLANDS Tourist attraction is the important and international pole of the South Aegean Region. This mini project will focus on specific categories of people e.g. people with special needs, people of old age. The objection of this mini project is a study which will examine the way that the accessibility of these categories of people in the islands will be easier. ALTERNATIVE TYPES OF TOURISM & ENVIRONMENT The students will familiarize with the concepts of the alternative types of tourism by exploiting the comparative advantages of the islands. The will create methods for the development of tourism in the islands. Lublin, 16 th November 2006
PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS The first two mini projects will be implemented by the University of Aegean and especially the University Unit of Syros and the Department of Product and Systems Design Engineering. PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED, SOLUTIONS FOUND As it was already mentioned during the process of making the templates, we don’t have any cooperation with a Turkish region yet. It was and also is too difficult for us to find any information even if it is about the profile of a region in Turkey. We also tried to contact with Turkish universities but it was impossible.
