W IKI W IKI W HAT ? “Wiki Wiki” means quick in Hawaiian A wiki is a quick way to collaborate and publish on the web. Here’s Eastern’s WikiEastern’s Wiki Today you will: 1. Learn how to use a wiki as a website 2. Begin building your wiki 3. Get tips on maintaining your grade level wiki Now let’s get started!

G ETTING S TARTED To get started you just have to do a few things: Sign up for a free account at Decide on a name for your wiki (ex: eastern2nd). This will become the URL (ex: “Driver” starts the wiki, others join the wiki. ALL are members and can edit. Now … to the computers!!

M AKING YOUR NEW W IKI Go to and Get Started.

W HAT CAN WE DO WITH OUR W IKI ? You can embed a video (just click the Embed Widget button in the editor bar). You can link to other websites. You can upload documents and link to them. You can insert a picture. Just remember, when you are done, you have to click the SAVE button! Let’s go back to Eastern’s wiki and see …Eastern’s wiki

M AINTENANCE T IPS Keep your front page as a simple welcome page. Unless you can update and check it constantly, don’t say you will! If one person on your team is more ‘tech savvy’, maybe they can update during planning. Make sure you put your work s along with your names on your page. Questions?
