 Problem: Does a tomato plant grow better in fertilized dirt or sand?  Hypothesis: If the tomato is planted in sand, and fertilized dirt, then the tomato plant planted in the fertilized dirt will grow the tallest.

 1- Put 1 cup of fertilized dirt in a cup  2- Put 1 cup of sand in a cup  3- Put about 3 seeds in the fertilized dirt cup, dig about 1 inch down in the fertilized dirt cup to insert the seeds  4- Put abut 3 seeds in the sand cup, dig about 1 inch down in the sand cup to insert the seeds  5- Water each plant about 3 tablespoons  6- Put both plants in the same sunny spot  7- Keep watering each plant every other week, 3 tablespoons each.

 2 cups/pots to plant the tomato plant in  6 tomato seeds  6 tablespoons of water  1 cup of sand  1 cup of fertilized dirt  Measuring cup  Tablespoon  Digging tool

During my experiment, both plants received the same amount of water and sunlight. In the beginning the fertilized dirt grew 1 ½ centimeter, and the sand grew 1 centimeter. You can see my hypothesis did hold, I predicted the fertilized dirt would grow the tallest. Later in the experiment both plants began to die or shrink. The fertilized dirt was minimized to ¼ centimeters, and the sand was minimized to 0 centimeters. As you can see the tomato plant planted in the sand completely died, but the fertilized dirt plant barely hung on. I think maybe if I would have watered the plants every week instead of every other week the plants may have grew taller instead of minimizing. Also neither plants has bloomed any tomato's.
