4 Senior Responsibilities Complete Records Release/Waiver Complete Common App and link to Naviance Add colleges/request transcripts in Naviance Arrange for recommendations with teachers and send thank you in Naviance

1. Records Release Go to BHS website, About USBHS Guidance, and download the Records Release and Waiver

Records Release Print, fill out, have parents sign, and return to your counselor.

2. Common App Match Log into Family Connection and choose the “colleges” tab and then click on “colleges I’m applying to”

Common App Match Create Common App account on Common App Online, sign CA FERPA (not the same as BHS), match account with Naviance using the same email address and birthdate. If you’re not applying to any common app schools, click on the “Not Needed” link in the lower right corner. Next click the “add to this list link at the bottom to start adding colleges.

Use link to look up the college, 2. choose the type of application, 3. click the box to request a transcript be sent to this school, 4. indicate if you have submitted your application yet (should eventually be checked). Repeat steps 1 through 4 as necessary for each school you’re applying to. 5. Click on the Add Colleges button at the bottom. 4. 2. 3. 1. 5.

Add Colleges & Request Transcripts in Naviance If one or more of your schools is a Common App school, on this next screen you need to indicate whether you are applying via Common App to those schools. Select yes or no, as applies for each school, and then click the Update Applications button. You’ll need to do this for each school that uses Common App.

4. Letters of Recommendation Ask teacher in person to write a letter for you Write thank you in Naviance All communication for letters of recommendation afterward should also happen in Naviance. On the bottom of the Colleges I’m Applying To page is the link for adding a teacher recommendation request/thank you note. You will have already requested the letter in person, so you’ll be using this to write the thank you note.

Letters of Recommendations Check back on this page to see the status of the letter from each teacher. If you need to have teachers send the letter to additional schools you hadn’t previously requested, use this same “thank you note” format for each additional request, as can be seen in the second example below. And that’s it!
