Language Arts Houghton Mifflin--textbook anthology Daily Five for Literacy Independence- becoming excited about and responsible for their learning, and building stamina –Read to Self –Read to Others (social studies and science topics) –Listen to Reading –Working on Writing (choice) –Word Work (sight words and spelling lists) Step Up to Writing: expository and narrative Sharing/Speaking/Listening

Spelling/Phonics District Words Their Way Spelling Assessment 3 different spelling lists based on individual assessment results: Letter Name, Within Word and Syllable Juncture Assessment is given 3 times during the year. Students may move to different lists. Phonics instruction is sequential and based on class needs as determined by the assessments.
