Misnamed battle Breed’s Hill-Redcoats dealt 3000 casualties compared to 311 for the minutemen. Second Continental Congress issued the Olive Branch Petition to the King for a return to harmony, but the King declared the colonists in rebellion.

Ideas behind the Revolution Grew out of the Enlightenment-What was the Enlightenment?

Groups of students will paraphrase and explain in modern language the 4 parts of the Declaration Each group will be assigned 1 section. Within that group, members will divide the work to include all participants. Students will rewrite the section in modern English, using words everyone in the group understands and agrees to use.
