A MARKET IN THE CENTRE Covent Garden is in the West End. Once a fruit and vegetable market, now it is a popular shopping and tourist site with the theatre Royal Opera House, also known as "Covent Garden". One of London's liveliest and most chic areas, Covent Garden has a number of open-air cafès, stylish shops and pubs centred around the old square and central market area.

STREET PERFORMANCE Covent Garden is licensed for street entertainment, and performers audition. There are street performances at Covent Garden Market every day of the year, except on Christmas Day.

The National Gallery is an art museum in Trafalgar Square. Founded in 1824, it houses a collection of over 2,300 paintings dating from the mid-13th century to THE NATIONAL GALLERY

Tate Modern Tate Modern is a modern art gallery. It is along the river Thames. The collections in Tate Modern consist of works of international modern and contempory art.

SCIENCE MUSEUM The Science Museum was founded in 1857 under Bennet Woodcroft as part of the South Kensington Museum and It became independent in The Science Museum has over 300,000 objects about history of science, technology and medicine. Among the most important objects are the Apollo 10, and the reconstruction of DNA model. The Museum has an important National library.

Liberty shop Liberty is a store in Regent Street. In 1875 Arthur Lasenby Liberty started a business. Liberty shop sells forniture and clothes. The store became one of the most prestigious in London in Arthur Liberty helped develop Art Nouveau which became known as the Stile Liberty. Art nouveau is an international philosophy and style of art, architecture and applied art, especially the decorative arts.

TATE GALLERY Tate gallery is an institution of four museums. First it was called the National Gallery of British Art. Then, in 1932, it was renamed the Tate Gallery. This is a painting of Vasilij Kandinskij, named Swinging.

CARNABY STREET Carnaby Street is a famous street in London, located in the Soho district. Near Oxford Street and Regent Street. There are a lot of shops for tourists and famous boutiques! The street was probably laid out in 1685 or A lot of directors chose this street to make their films.

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO REGENT STREET? Regent street is a famous shopping street in London’s West end and it runs from the Carlton House in St James’ at southern end, through Piccadilly Circus and Oxford street, to All Souls Church. From there it continues through Langham Place and Portland Place untill the Regent’s Park It is named after the prince Regent and it is associated with the architect John Nash, who designed although all the original buildings of London. All of they have been replaced, except All Souls Church. On Christmas’ holidays the street shows a lot of wonderful and amazing decorations and illuminations, for which is really famous.

The name remembers the Battle of Trafalgar (1805), a naval battle over France. The square consists of a large central area with roads on three sides, and a terrace to the north, in front of the National Gallery. Nelson's Column is in the centre of the square, between two fountains and four monumental bronze lions are around it. The column is in front of a statue of Horatio Nelson, the vice admiral who fought the Battle of Trafalgar.

2012 sees the arrival of a stature of a rocking horse at Trafalgar Square Created by the artists Elmgreen and Dragset, the statue is set on cast in bronze and represents a small boy in shorts riding a wooden rocking horse. Its name is Powerless Structure.

BRITISH MUSEUM It was founded in 1753 by Sir Hans Sloane. It is dedicated to history and human culture from the past to the present. In this museum there are objects from all the world. There are 10 departaments. Each ones is dedicated to a different polulation and period.
