CFQs Essential Question: What is common to all human beings? Unit Question: How can your understanding of Spanish language, history, geography and economics help you during your imaginary trip? Content Questions: What are the products, practices and perspectives of your country?

Vision for Unit By creating this unit, I want to  Make my students study of the Spanish-speaking world personally relevant  Think of ways to provide my students with a real-world application of their knowledge that they may apply in the future. During this unit, I want my students to  Learn ways to connect Latino culture to their own.  Use technology to communicate with different audiences

Project Approaches As my students work on this project, they ● Connect their project to the real world ● Connect via technology to foreign cultures and current events ● Create a product that shows what they’ve learned ● Share their learning with a real audience

21 st Century Learning Students will develop higher-order and 21 st century skills in this unit as they ● Use the Essential and Unit Questions to guide their analysis of their project to find themes that cross cultures ● Communicate their ideas to a community audience ● Reflect on their reading, writing, research, and thinking strategies, and modify and adapt them as necessary ● Use project assessments to self-assess their work and give feedback to their peers

Gauging Student Needs Assessments Use CFQs to learn Students’ ideas about the Spanish-speaking world Background knowledge of Latino culture Assess 21 st Century skills Ability to see similarities and differences between cultures.

Gauging Student Needs Assessments I can use the information from these assessments to: Focus on aspects of the Spanish-speaking world that students have prior misconceptions about Plan activities in which they will answer their questions Students can use the information from these assessments to: Compare their questions other students’ questions Set goals for how they will answer their own questions

¡Buen Viaje! Enjoy Your Trip!
