CHU JU’S HOUSE BY: Jaclyn

CHARACTERS CHU JU- CH JU is the main character of the book. She is caring, thoughtful and nice. CHU JU’S MOM-CHU JU’S mom is a good mom. She has a new baby girl. She is emotional, and caring. Nai Nai- Nai Nai is CHU JU’S grandma. She hates CHU JU. She wants CHU JU’S mom to have a boy so he can bring honor to the family. She has a negative attitude and is mean. CHU JU’S DAD- CHU JU’S dad is kind to her but doesn’t really care for her. Yai Yai- Yai Yai took CHU JU on her boat when she had no were else to go. She is caring and kind. Han Na- Han Na took CHU JU into her house when CHU JU had no were else to go. She is kind, caring, loving. Quan- Quan is Han Na’s son. He wants to go to the big city. But he has problems in the city. He is kind caring and adventurous.

Summary This book was about a 14 year old girl named CHU JU. She lives with her Nai Nai, her mom and dad in China. Her mom is going to have a baby and there all hoping for a boy to bring honor to the family. But the mom has a another girl. Her dad is disappointed and upset. The Nai Nai wants to give the baby away and her dad agrees. Chu JU takes care of the baby while her Nai Nai Try's to sell her to an orphanage. Soon the orphanage lady comes to there house to look at the baby, CHU JU doesn’t want the baby to go and sees her mom is thinking the same thing because CHU JU sees her crying in the corner of the room. Later that night CHU JU runs away. She has many adventures and her adventures to different places are very fun,and interesting to read about.

Problem/Solution The problem in this story is that CHU JU’S Nai Nai is going to sell her new baby sister. The solution is that she runs away.

CHU JU’S ADVENTURES/Settings! When CHU JU runs away from her house she first she goes to the lake near by her house and goes on someone else's boat. The people on the boat figure out why she ran away and want to take her back to her house so she runs away to a warm farm. The woman at the worm farm tells her she can leave. CHU JU goes to a small house and lives there for a while. Soon Han Na (the woman who owns the house) her son moves to the city. Later CHU JU gets a note that he is in jail so CHU JU has to go to the big city to get him out of jail. Soon Han Na dies and gives CHU JU the house. Then CHU JU finally goes to see her family.
