Weather Station -BY TEAM H20 ANJANA, JHANVI, LAVANYA, AND NAVYA

Anemometer  WHAT?  Used to measure wind speed.  HOW?  Add string to a nail and hang a light ball at the end of the string  On a semi-circular board mark the wind speeds  Keep the device parallel to the wind and note the wind speeds  Fun Fact  One wind turbine can deliver electricity to 500 homes

Rain gauge…  WHAT?  Used to measure rainfall  HOW?  Place the collecting jar in the rain. At the end of the day, we pour the water form the collecting jar into the measuring jar to find out the rainfall.  Fun Fact  The highest amount of rainfall ever was in Cheerapunji, India at 72 inches in 1 day

Weather Vane  WHAT?  Used to measure wind direction  HOW?  Take the vane outside where it is windy. Find out the direction of the wind. Based on the direction of the arrow, we can record the direction of the wind.  Fun Fact  If the wind is swirly, the wane can go round and round!

Thermometer  WHAT?  Used to measure temperature  HOW?  Keep the thermometer in the location you want to measure the hotness or coldness. When it hot the rubbing alcohol rises up; and when it is cold the rubbing alcohol drops down.  Fun Fact  In Antarctica the temperature can go into the negative!

Hygrometer  WHAT?  Used to measure humidity  HOW?  The hair strand lengthens up or curls up depending on the humidity in the air. Based on the markings on the ruler, we can determine the humidity  Fun Fact  Did you know why your hair frizzes up? It is because of humidity

Barometer  WHAT?  Used to measure the air pressure  HOW?  When the air pushes down on the balloon, the straw tilts up. The marking on the board will indicate the pressure.  Fun Fact  The hotter it is, the lesser the air pressure
