How To Work Smarter Not Harder And Get More Done  The key is time management  How to implement better time management skills that work for you

Time Management  Refers to the skill or ability to use various techniques or strategies in order to maximize your use of time.

Strategies & Techniques for effective Time Management  Using an agenda/calendar/notebook  Daily to-do list  Set priorities  Scheduling  Time log  Identify your prime time  Schedule time for yourself

The Six Steps to Time Management:  I. Clarify your priorities.  II. Write out your goals with a timeline.  III. Assess your current use of time.  IV. Create your time plan.  V. Assess your plan.  VI. Continue to implement your plan

What are Your Priorities?  Clarify your priorities.  Note there should be a connection between what your priorities are, what your goals are, and what you spend your time doing.  Not all of your priorities and goals will be related to your career.  These priorities are equally important especially when it comes to work /school/life balance.

Write out Your Goals with a Timeline  Make a list of your top three priorities for your life.  Where do you see yourself/career in 5-10 yrs?  Where would you like to be in a year?  Where would you like to be in 3-6 months?  Where would you like to be in a month?  What do you have to do in order to reach these milestones?  What deadlines lie ahead of you?  What tasks must be completed to reach these deadlines?  Write all of this down.

Assess your Current use of Time  In a small notebook or your calendar record what you do on a daily basis for one week.  Be completely honest with yourself regarding how you spend your time  Be on the look out for time wasted doing things that are unimportant.  Record throughout the day if possible.  When was your energy the greatest? When was it low?

Create your time plan  Organize you top 3 goals by priority and timeline.  Look at these goals once a day and visualize them.  In a notebook or agenda write what you want to accomplish for the next month.  Make a daily to do list.  Schedule as much as possible.  Reward yourself, schedule time to for recreation or leisure.

Assess your plan  Evaluate at the end of the day how much you got done and how well you followed your plan.  Make adjustments, develop a more manageable daily list, if you are not accomplishing your tasks.

Continue to implement your plan  Commit to writing down your to do list and your monthly goals.  Review your accomplishments.  Add new goals.  Stay motivated.
