Canada Harp Seal hunting The Canada harp seal hunt is the biggest massacre of mammals on the planet It happens annually on the ice flows of east coast of Canada
Arguments against… The seals are not killed in humane ways They are killed by wooden clubs, large ice pick like clubs or guns Over 98% of the seals are under the age of 3 months Seals are shot at from moving boats so they are usually not killed right away, and the hunters have to pay if there is more than one gun hole so they leave the wounded seals to die Government regulations about humane killing are not followed Seals are sometimes skinned alive
Arguments for… Some say it is necessary for Canada's economy Buttttt fisherman make only one twentieth of their incomes from seal hunting And of a population of about half a million only 6000 fisherman participate in the hunt each year
