November 27, 2010 Ottawa D-STAR Symposium by Projects for VA3ODG Projects for VA3ODG various

Route and Link (page #1) New process to simplify and streamline linking and routing from user perspective Logical to the user New name for Routing is Locating We have all the tools to do this now

Route and Link (page #2) Calling Station does not know location of Called Station, so sets up for Call Sign Routing Calling Station initiates call Called Station is located via USTrust or ircDDB. Called Gateway realizes probable presence of Called Station. Called Station responds by transmitting (PTT). Called Gateway confirms presence of Called Station and sets up link to Calling Gateway. Calling Station hears link established message and sets radio for URCall=CQCQCQ The 2 stations carry on conversation. Either station Unlinks

Automated Datafill Default should be for gateway to datafill what it already knows. Gateway knows what module radio is on and should automatically datafill RPT1 (when left blank by user). Gateway knows its own callsign and should automatically datafill VA3ODG G into RPT2 (when left blank by user). If either field is datafilled by user, it is not changed by gateway. This would make both routing and linking much easier and radio programming much easier.

Weather Station We have temperature sensors and can activate indoor and outdoor temperature on a web site Needs a little bit of development Prefer to also have indoor and outdoor Humidity and Barometric Pressure Wind and rain gauges not meaningful due to roof geography

Internet Improvements Look for a sponsor for good, free, wired internet Investigate opportunities of Y-provided internet feed Would permit more simultaneous dongles and hot spots

RF Overhaul Retune all duplexers, filters, pre-amps Determine if we would benefit from additional filtering Improve 23cm DV Improve 23cm DD

Site Monitoring Webcam has been discussed (non-streaming) Door monitoring (room and cabinet) may be useful Combine with wx stn? Other?

Automate Gateway Switchover Improve gateway#2 hardware Work on at least partially automating the switch over if/when it is required – Automatic duplication – Automatic database save and restore

Rolling Web Log of All Transmissions Would allow users to see every transmission (whether RF or not) with details and time stamp Web page for easy access Last 24 hours always on line, previous day archived

Internet Web Server for ID-1s Require a log-in (with cookie) for access to internet Access to local web pages and local web (intra system) for emergency use Integrate with DRATS and low speed data on radios

What Else? -
