Title of Site: Book Cover Creator Type of context: Creation Description: Students create their own book cover for a book/story/etc that they wrote in class to “dress” up the work.

Title of Site: Virtual Lab Type of Content: Real/Simulation Description: The site shows two tabs (Laboratory and Models). The laboratory icon lets the students perform a virtual experiment while the “Models” tab gives you the ability to build your own simulated chemical models.

Type of context: Modeling Description: This site allows students to develop models to explain their ideas on poems, autobiographies, or writing prompts. The students demonstrate these aspects, procedures, concepts, or various writing processes once they have composed and printed their work. Title of Site: Student Materials Index

Type of context: Situation Exploration,Case-Based, Story Description: In this case study, students explore facts suggesting that environmental estrogens leach out of some plastic containers and that these chemicals have a “blow” on mammal development. Students analyze data and develop their own conclusions based on what is presented. They are also asked to consider themselves as future scientists in teaching the community about these dangerous chemicals. Title of Site : What’s in my water bottle?

First, the students come up with a testable hypothesis, and then design/perform their own experiments to test their hypothesis (blood pressure, EKG, respiratory, etc). Type of context: “Big-Picture” Concept Mapping Description: FreeMind is a mind mapping software that allows one to visualize ideas, tasks, speculations, & internet exploration that can benefit from an ordered framework. You can create links & add icons, notes, and custom formatting for enhanced appearance. Breeze Presenter works with Microsoft PowerPoint content and it lets teachers the capacity to include commentary, presenter facts, interactive quizzes and video/animations.
