The House on Mango Street Structure End Product

Take Out the Following: Part 4 “House on Mango Street”. Turn to the vignette “Geraldo No Last Name” – page 65 in book. Take out Ebola article - “Ebola didn’t have to kill Thomas Eric Duncan, nephew says” Take out Immigration article “Coming to the US”

In Groups You Will: 1.Re-read “Geraldo No Last Name” to discuss the specific word choice and varied point of view you annotated which reveal the attitudes toward Geraldo’s situation. 2.What social condition is the author criticizing in “Geraldo No Last Name”? How is this critique revealed through the structure of the vignette, specifically through word choice and point of view? 3.Re-read the annotated article “Ebola didn’t have to kill Thomas Eric Duncan, nephew says”. Make a Venn Diagram for similarities & differences between Thomas Eric Duncan & Geraldo. How does the article “Ebola didn’t have to kill Thomas Eric Duncan, nephew says” correlate to the author’s criticism of treatment of immigrants “Geraldo No Last Name”?

End Product Considering the knowledge you have of the history of Chicanos in America–how they arrived here and their place in society, how does “The House on Mango Street” reflect this history? How is the Chicanos’ treatment in society–i.e., their systematic exclusion–alike or different from that of other minority groups? Is this type of treatment still as prevalent in today’s society as it was in the 1970’s? Use the articles “Ebola didn’t have to kill Thomas Eric Duncan, nephew says,” “Coming to the US,” & the vignette(s) to support your argument. Be sure to make reference to each source used and cite textual evidence for support.
