Typhoon Wind Speeds Winds may reach up to 100 to 150 mph. The highest wind speeds are right outside the eye.

Definitions For Typhoons The word “typhoon”comes from the mandarin term ‘tai feng”, which means supreme winds. It is the same thing as a hurricane in the United States or a cyclone in the United Kingdom- a powerful storm that brings fierce winds and intense rain.

Philippines Sometimes 6 to 9 typhoons make landfall in a typical year in the Philippines. A typhoon mostly hits at the Philippines and China Sea. In the Philippines typhoons are typical weather.

When, And Where Typhoons Happen Where Typhoons happen is at the north western Pacific ocean. Most of the storms form between May and December but, there is a minimum between January and April.

Typhoon Vocabulary Words Cyclone~ a violent storm sometimes called a Typhoon depending on the location. Eye~ the calm part in the center of a Typhoon that is shaped like a circle and that looks like an eye.

Typhoon Facts A weather station in Taiwan goes nuts like it’s the end of the world when a typhoon is coming. A typhoon to Taiwanese kids is like a huge blizzard to children in North America. Typhoons began to be given names by the U.S. weather service in 1953.

Thanks For Watching! We hope you have learned a lot about this dangerous storm called a Typhoon!
