Ellesmere Park High School Year 11 Study Support Additional Curriculum Time All of year 11 attend an extra lesson each week on Wednesday, during Period 5. This is an ideal opportunity to work with our teaching staff for an extra 25 hours per year. Students attend lessons on a rota basis, which includes Science, ICT and all Option Subjects. Within the additional curriculum time, we provide opportunities for students to work through their UCAS Progress applications.

Ellesmere Park High School Year 11 Study Support Assembly Alongside our House System, Year 11 have their own, bespoke Assembly every Monday. This gives us an opportunity to share our successes and celebrate the progress our students are making. Students are given the chance to canvas their peers’ votes in our Head Prefect elections; as well as welcoming our local Further Education providers to help decide on their next steps.

Ellesmere Park High School Year 11 Study Support Assertive Mentoring All students in Year 11 are assigned a mentor, who works closely with them to ensure that the provision in school is allowing everyone to achieve their potential. Assertive Mentoring is underpinned by the following principles: Achievable, but aspirational Pupil Target Setting Regular and Accurate Tracking of Progress Against the Targets Assigning The Right Mentors Seeing the Future

Ellesmere Park High School Year 11 Study Support Exams The GCSE exams are the single most important event in school life for anyone in Year 11. It is important that students are aware of the dates of their exams and you are aware of ways in which you can help the to prepare. Exam timetables will be available on the school website later this year. You can also look at the exam board websites for further information.

Ellesmere Park High School Year 11 Study Support Extra Curricular Revision Consolidating learning is a vital step towards exam success. We offer extra revision classes both before and after school and would ask that you encourage your child to attend. Our students succeed when they take advantage of the expertise and time that our teaching staff can offer them.

Ellesmere Park High School Year 11 Study Support Intervention We recognise that on occasions, there may be factors that prevent our students making the progress that the are capable of. Our Intervention Mentor, Mrs Kavanagh, is able to work closely with our students to support their learning. In Maths, Mrs Baquati provides bespoke support and students attend our Maths form every day. In English, Mr O’Leary and Miss Brierley provide extra support to our teaching team.

Ellesmere Park High School Year 11 Study Support Links The internet is a powerful and useful resource. Here are some links that we recommend for our students to use: BBC Bitesize S-Cool Pearson Edexcel

Ellesmere Park High School Year 11 Study Support Moving On Whilst Year 11 sees our students reach the end of their time with us, it does not mean the end of their education. The next step is vitally important and we encourage our students to speak to Mrs Sarson, our careers advisor and to use some of the links below to help them to take the next step that is right for them. UCAS Progress Salford City College Loreto College Manchester
