Mu2e Meeting, April 2, 2008 E Prebys Toward a Proposal Key Points  In order to start money flowing, we need to pursue CD-0 (“Statement of Mission Need”) as quickly as possible  Whether or not protons come from Project X is a detail as far as this is concerned. Propose  Proceed as fast as possible with our original plan for a “Phase I” experiment Magnet and spectrometer more or less identical to MECO Protons provided by existing Proton Source via the Accumulator Debuncher  Include boiler plate about possible Project X upgrades  Hand in by Fall? Further resolve  That this be the last talk about “What we’re going to do”. 1

Mu2e Meeting, April 2, 2008 E Prebys To Do List Develop and use our own modeling tools to reproduce the studies that were done for MECO  Beam line with G4 beamline Mike Martens  Spectrometer with Geant4 Bob Bernstein Obtain mechanical drawings for solenoidal transport system, with the plan of presenting it as is in the proposal  ??? 2

Mu2e Meeting, April 2, 2008 E Prebys To Do (cont’d) Flesh out accelerator issues  Beam stability in Accumulator and Debuncher Chuck Angenbrandt (+ Dave Neuffer, with help from Bill Ng)  Details of slow extraction Me, with help from, eg, John Johnstone  Radiation issues Enlist Tony Leveling  Beam line design, including extinction system TBD Civil  Location Can we do it at AP-0? –Milorad, et al  Cost $100 K to FESS 3
