SALMON BY: MARIAH B.

Salmons Population At the moment, salmon's population has decreased. Within ten years, scientists predict that some salmons will become extinct due to environmental changes and sea lice. Pollution and global warming are contributing to the death of salmons.

Threats to Salmon There are numerous ways to save salmon such as protecting their habitat, restoring damaged streams, and decreasing the amount of fishing. Salmons' habitats can be protected by conserving water and avoid placing trash in the streams and storm drains. In addition, limiting the use of fertilizers and cleaning chemicals will help to save the salmons because these items are poisonous to the fish.

Salmon Endangered Map

Why Salmon are Important?  People and Animals rely on eating Salmon  Fishing is a big sport that is celebrated  If Salmon go extinct then so will other animals since they have to hunt down new food The biggest threat of all to salmon: Dams Kill 50% of young salmon 20% of adult salmon

Salmon Facts  They live between 2-7 years  They can travel up to 1,000 miles  Eat insects and other fish once they grow and get older  There are six types of Salmon: Cherry salmon Chinook salmon Chum salmon Coho salmon Pink salmon Sockeye salmon They live in the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean and in cold streams.
