RELIGION RRRRussian Orthodox RRRRussian Orthodox is part of the Christian Religion it is the biggest of all the Eastern Orthodox churches the only Christian church that is bigger is the Roman Catholic church. IIIIslam IIIIslam is a monotheistic type of religion. Islam is one of the fastest growing religions of the world. Adherents are called Muslims. JJJJudaism JJJJudaism began as the religion of the small nation of the Hebrews. And through thousands of years Judaism has continued to be a profoundly influential religion and culture. CCCChristianity CCCChristians believe that Jesus is the son of God and that Christ was nailed to a cross and was killed.

ART, MUSIC, AND LITERATURE  Russia has a very rich tradition of art, music, and literature.  Russian ballet dancers are famous all around the world  Composer Peter Tchaikovsky wrote some of the worlds favorite ballets including Sleeping Beauty and the Nutcracker Suit  His 1812 overture celebrated the Russian defeat against the French in 1812  Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov used Russian folktales and tunes in his operas and other works  Igor Stravinsky’s Firebird came from a Russian legend  Poet Alexander Pushkin protested the lack of freedom under the Czars  Leo Tolstoy’s novel War and Peace recounts how Russians rallied to defeat the French in 1812  Author Fyodor Dostoyevsky wrote many novels that told about Russian life during the late 1800s  In the 1970s Alexander Solzhenstein wrote novels that told about the harsh conditions of Communist society
