The Angry Princess An Original Myth By Kathy Goodson

Once there was a beautiful but very spoiled princess named Storm If it was day she wanted night. If she had chocolate she wanted pizza. If she had company, she wanted to be alone. She wanted, wanted and wanted everything her way and she was never satisfied.

One hot, dry day the princess had complained and complained and complained until the servants in the castle hid from her. I’m hot! Come and fan me! Where is he? She will never find me here.

Princess Storm was so angry she went outside and shouted at the sun. “Why must you shine so brightly Mr. Sun? I am hot. Why must you make it so dry? I am thirsty. “

The Sun looked down at the angry princess and shined even hotter. The princess angrily shook her fist at the Sun. I’m hot, I’m hot, I’m hot……I demand you cool me off. Again the Sun shined even brighter on the princess making her drip with sweat.

The princess was so angry that she climbed a nearby hill and began shouting as she threw stones at the Sun. The Sun becoming weary looked and down, “What do you want?” “I want to be cool and wet right now!” cried the princess as huge tears fell down her face.

“Then you shall have your wish.” said the Sun as he turned away from her. Suddenly, Princess Storm was scooped up into the sky and she became a huge, wet, angry cloud.

She fusses and fumes as she lights the summer sky with lightning and you can hear the thunder of the stones she is still throwing at the Sun. As she sweats and cries the rains fall. Even today when the weather is hot and dry, you can often see Storm.

Now you know how lightning and thunder came to our skies.
