Why do plants need roots?

The roots are the way for water and minerals to get into the plant. **This is how the plant eats and drinks.

The roots keep the plant from falling over or being blown away.

Roots help the plant store food and water.

Plant Roots Hold the plant in the soil. Take in water and food for the plant. Store food for the plant.

Types of Roots Tap Roots A long central root grows deep in the ground. Fibrous Roots Many shallow small roots hold the plant to the ground.
