MA Recycling Markets Survey Business Findings Ways the state can support market development: The top thing the state can do to help companies source recycled feedstock is to help ensure that materials are cleaner The top thing the state can do to provide business and technical assistance is to help with product marketing The most important resource companies want the state to connect them to is product purchasers The most important way the state can help educate companies is through workshops, although the kind of workshops was not specified Other ways to help include consumer education and setting minimum recycled content standards Perlmutter Associates 

MA Recycling Markets Survey Forums and Communication Hold meetings with manufacturers, researchers, and community-based organizations to learn more about capacity and needs Hold regional stakeholder meetings that bring together the whole recycling chain—collectors, processors, end-users, municipalities, researchers, etc – to discuss issues relating to feedstock quality, business opportunities, barriers, etc Establish relationships with researchers to learn what type of work they can do and how best to use them, and to convey state priorities Bring together businesses and researchers working with a particular material to identify issues that can be solved through college and university resources, including interns, research, business planning classes, etc Organize meetings between the state purchasing agency and companies to find ways for the EPP program to be more responsive to business needs, including remanufacturing Perlmutter Associates 

MA Recycling Markets Survey Leverage Other Resources Bring in other agencies to provide assistance where appropriate Promote businesses, communities, and researchers as critical parts of the clean tech economy, and encourage environmental, energy, and business agencies to target some of their clean energy efforts towards recycling companies Work with the state Association of Community Development Corporations to introduce issues related to recycling enterprises and green jobs to their members Work with the Massachusetts Manufacturing Extension Partnership to assist recycled product manufacturers Work with researchers to design funding programs or other assistance in a way that will help them leverage other funding sources Work with appropriate entities to find in-state licensees for new technologies developed by Massachusetts researchers Perlmutter Associates 

MA Recycling Markets Survey Provide Groups with Education and Resources Hold workshops on issues that are identified through the outreach and communication process Provide information on community-oriented recycling business options to Community Development Corporations, community groups, community developers, etc Encourage more recycling companies to come to OSD’s Vendor Fair, or find other ways to help link or promote them to purchasers Perlmutter Associates 
