- Nomination was initiated and elaborated by working group of active fishermen (2009) -Museum played facilitating role (administrative and communication) -Handed in our nomination in February, expect answer in December -Since elements on list, only two with maritime character Unesco – Intangible Cultural Heritage Sanké mon, collective fishing rite of the Sanké Mali – 2009 – List of ICH in Need of Urgent Safeguarding Traditional skills of building and sailing Iranian Lenj boats in the Persian Gulf Iran – 2011 – List of ICH in Need of Urgent Safeguarding

-Looking for partners in our community, in the heritage and academic field, creating a interdisciplinary network and functioning as a facilitator, sharing expertise and experience concerning safeguarding measures and knowledge transfer Two day international colloquium on fishing on horseback, in collaboration with the University of Leuven and the Flemish Institute for the Sea (VLIZ) Publication in collaboration with FARO (Flemish Interface for cultural heritage) and Tapis Plein (National Centre for expertise) … -In Flanders: Presence on Platform ICH, a digital database and website created by the Flemish government: (model can be used international) In the museum -Workshops given by fishermen to children -Guided tours on the beach that end up in the museum -An annual festival celebrating the start of the shrimp season Key Issue 2: The role of museum - Bringing Intangible heritage into the museum
