© 2012 Autodesk Autodesk Structural Curriculum 2013 Unit 5: Advanced Structural Analysis & Coordination Overview This lesson provides a brief overview of Autodesk ® Robot TM Structural Analysis Professional software, expanding on the techniques learned in previous lessons. It introduces the basics of Robot’s robust analysis capabilities and includes a quick lesson on the user interface and tools available. This unit will also discuss the roles of all the parties involved in design and provide suggestions for the proper workflow when using BIM in structural design. An advanced look into coordination of trades is also explored. For the best results it is suggested students have a basic understanding of structural analysis and experience with a structural analysis software package. The exercises in Unit 5 will utilize the more advanced features of Robot and address more complicated structural analysis problem sets.

© 2012 Autodesk Autodesk Structural Curriculum 2013 Unit 5: Advanced Structural Analysis & Coordination Objectives Build and analyze different structural models in Robot Be able to use Autodesk ® 360 and Robot to analyze a lateral frame Analyze a lateral frame with and without considering P-Delta effects Define the role of each party in the design of buildings: architect, structural engineer, MEP engineer, civil engineer, contractor, subcontractors, and owners Know the differences between them Understand the basic concept of integrated practice, its workflow, and industry trends toward this concept Define the importance of integrated practice and its challenges and benefits Understand the concept of multidiscipline clash detection
