Sadhbhavana World School School Culture Component-1

a. Classroom The discipline of the class room is the prerogative of the teacher who is in charge of the class. b. Space outside the classroom  Strict discipline to be maintained in space outside the classroom.  Movements of the students to be monitored.

Assembly Person-in-charge: Class Teacher  Class leader should stand in front of the line and assistant leader at the back of the line. One arm distance should be maintained between two consecutive students in the line. Students should keep their hands behind while walking.

Between two teaching periods Person-in-charge: Teacher in charge  Every teacher will be provided with two permit cards. This should be issued to students who want to move out of the class. At a time not more than two students should be allowed to go out of the class. Any student who is seen outside without the permit card is liable to be punished and the concerned teacher liable for an explanation.

During snack break (morning) Person-in-charge: Class Teacher & Teacher in charge  Two classes (a senior and a junior )are allowed to play in the space near the entrance or grassy quadrangles during snack break everyday. This will be according to a formally drafted time table.  The decorum of the corridors and rules regarding movement inside the building have to be maintained as it is generally this time we have visitors from outside in the reception/office complex.

During snack break ( Evening) Person-in-charge: Prefects  Lime juice should be served in two corners – lobby near the art studio and lobby near class VI and VII. Students of class I, II and V should assemble class wise in the lobby near the art studio and classes III,IV,VI and VII should assemble in the lobby near class VI and VII.

 Discipline in the area outside the classroom

Students boarding and unboarding the vehicles (Responsibility of the support staff)  Students in the morning after arrival  Students to remain in the classes - no formal monitoring by class leader required.  Class and discipline teachers will be responsible for any student/s loitering outside class rooms after any one of their arrival.  Students will walk in a line from their class for the assembly with hands folded behind their backs.

 Students during Assembly  Students will stand with one-arm space in front and between them.  No talking during the assembly.  Students to raise their hands whenever they wish to speak.  Class & respective discipline teachers to be standing next to their class.  Students to walk in single line to the mess hall with hands folded behind their backs.

 Students to and back from the mess hall  Students will go and come back in a line.  Teacher responsible for the previous session and the discipline teacher to accompany students.  Students to come down after food and form a line class-wise.  Teacher responsible for the next session accompany them back.

 Discipline inside the class room

 Class during teacher change over  Teachers’ responsibility for a class will begin three minutes past the bell to the end of the session.  Previous teacher to give some drill exercise not less than three minutes after the bell goes.  Students requiring leaving the class mid-session will need a permit card from the particular teacher.  Class leaders will not be expected to remind teachers to attend to their classes after the bell rings.

 Movement outside the class room- informal  Students while walking in a group need to slow down, split up and make ample room for any teacher who passes them.  The students have to move to their left in the above situation and make way for the approaching teacher.  Students need to greet teachers politely.

 Showing respect to others (friends)  Students will not walk holding hands or with arms around each other.  Be honest, use appropriate language, take responsibility for their actions and ignore negative comments.  Respect others' personal space and property, keep hands/feet to themselves, listen/wait for their turn, and use physical/verbal self control.

 Showing respect to teachers  Students need to greet teachers politely.  No talking in a loud, rude manner and always speak politely.  Students while walking in a group need to slow down split up and make ample room for any teacher who passes them.  The students have to move to their left in the above situation and make way for the approaching teacher.  Students will always approach their class/discipline teacher to clarify any issues.

 Teacher interaction with students outside the classroom  Teacher interaction with students outside the class to be more formal.  Teachers to always maintain proper decorum while seated or walking.  Teachers to use refined language while conversing with students.  Outside the class room, teachers to call aside the student and have private talks if they misbehave.( Not to insult the child in public)

 Showing respect to outsiders  Students need to greet visitors politely.  Students while walking in a group need to slow down split up and make ample room for any visitor who passes them.  The students have to move to their left in the above situation and make way for the approaching visitor/s.

 Three o’clock break time  Teacher in charge of the session before the break will ensure that the students form a line and go for their lemonade  Particular teachers in charge of the morning interval will supervise this break as well.  Two different points for serving/collecting – One for serving lemonade and biscuits, and one for collecting the used glasses.  Students to go to their respective classes once the bell rings.  Class teachers will ensure that students are sent for the respective activity to the allotted place, walking in a line.  No students are allowed to stay back in the class unless otherwise permitted by the class teacher.  Any student not feeling up to it should get permission from the activity teacher and remain seated in the activity area.  Activity teachers to ensure that the students will walk back in a line at least three minutes before the final bell.

 Dining Hall  Students to respect the prayer.  No running or pushing in the mess hall.  Students will not speak while eating.  Students will raise their hands if they need a second helping.  Students to make minimal noise with the cutlery.  Post lunch students can play downstairs and drivers (one-thirty return trip drivers) can be present in play area for general supervision.

 Student to and from the multi-purpose Hall  Students to walk to and from the multi- purpose hall in a formal way  Students always to be seated house-wise in four separated groups  Senior students to monitor their groups  All teachers including house teachers to help maintain discipline  All teachers to work on their own initiative during such programmes.

General Rules  Always speak in English.  No running in the corridor.  No talking loudly in the corridor.  Students should converse strictly in English to their friends even in the school vehicles.  Strict measure should be taken against those who bully others,especially the juniors.  Students must be instructed to talk politely to each other.  Listen without interrupting.  Speak only when the other person has finished speaking.  Learn to obey rules and authority.  Any visitor should be greeted politely and appropriately.

General Rules - Continues  If required the visitor should be guided to the helpdesk.  Students should be trained to use refined vocabulary in their conversation.  Students need not greet teachers when walking in a line.  When alone they need to greet teachers, but not repeatedly.  Students should try to take an alternative route to destination if they find nannies moping or cleaning a particular area.  Students should be instructed to maintain the cleanliness of their classrooms and corridors.
