Introduction Dennis Scroggins will reason and persuade us from the Scriptures as the apostle Paul did. (Acts 17:2-4) He will speak only the word of God (1 Pet. 4:11), with the authority of Christ (Colossians 3:17) and will not preach his opinion. He will teach what is profitable for our souls (Acts 20:20) with timely lessons and modern day applications to our lives (Acts 20:27) Our minds need to be refreshed on why we are having this gospel meeting next week with Dennis.

Gathering to Hear God’s Word (Acts 10:33) Cornelius called together his relatives and close friends to hear the gospel and we can too. (Acts 10:24) It will help us to remain united, love one another, and strive together for the faith of the gospel. (Philippians 1:27; Ephesians 4:1-3) Will you be here every service to help us accomplish that goal or will you make excuses? (Luke 14:16ff)

Opportunity to Grow Spiritually (1 Peter 2:1-3) All of us need to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ and not be deceived by the error of men. (2 Peter 3:17-18) We need to be filled with the knowledge of His will so that we can discern good and evil in our everyday lives (Hebrews 5:11-14).

Saving Power of the Gospel (Romans 1:16) Where else could we go to hear the words of eternal life other than Jesus? Where else could we go to hear the words of eternal life other than Jesus? (John 6:68; 20:30-31) The lost need to hear the soul saving gospel so that they won’t suffer eternal torment (Romans 5:6-11)

Preaching the Word (2 Timothy 4:2-5) Dennis will not be preaching to satisfy the desires of men or to be popular, but will boldly preach the truth with love for your soul. (Acts 4:13, 29-31; Gal. 1:10-12; Eph. 4:15) We encourage you to not only hear the word of God but be doers of it as the Bereans were. (James 1:22-25; Acts 17:11)

Edifying the Saints with the Gospel (Acts 20:32) The word of God’s grace is able to build you up and give you the inheritance. Will you allow it to build you up in your life? We need our faith built up so that we can withstand the many storms that we face in our everyday lives (Matthew 7:24-27)

Looking to Jesus (Hebrews 12:1-4) We look to Jesus because he finished the race, endured the cross, and tasted death for you and me so that we would not grow weary and lose heart (Hebrews 2:9). Who do you look to for advice, guidance, and security? We should look to Jesus so that we might become more like Him everyday (Romans 8:28ff)
